Visit Yass Valley

One of the earlier settlements of the Yass Valley, this village is home to a renewed and growing community. It lies at the foot of the 796 metre Bowning Hill and provides a good idea of how early explorers and settlers saw the area. The town echoes a colourful past with many historical buildings such as the Bowning Hotel, previously known as the Commersial Hotel still in use. Bowning also offers two beautiful churches, the Anglican and Catholic.

The spirit of old Bowning and this relaxed artistic community can be shared today at the quirky and welcoming Rollonin Cafe, packed with fascinating memorabilia. This replica slab hut is winning fans the world over. Outside diners can soak up the countryside and Mac the draught horse and his animal friends in the fields.
